Facebook Virtual Wing

A conceptual educational tool using AR to bring renowned museum collections into the classroom.

The Creative Shop Studio team at Facebook tapped us to help develop a prototype for a concept using Spark AR on standard iPhones to level up art education in K-12 schools. Using a system of cards inspired by the Eames’ House of Cards, the idea was for students to build their own ‘virtual’ museum wings and include works from world-class collections — the MET, TATE and Smithsonian, among others.

With the AR technology, students could then scan the works to reveal custom animations that took a deeper dive into the story behind each piece. The design process included in-classroom testing with students, ensuring every step of the experience was functional and considered.
